The paper presents opportunities to reduce CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent) and fugitive emissions, thus reducing the carbon foot print from gas processing plants. A recent National Academy of Sciences report (Zavala-Arazia, PNAS, 2015) indicates that an average of 2% of source natural gas is leaked into the atmosphere in the form of fugitive emissions from gas compression plants. Benefits of using low emission valves and advantages of electric motor driven compression over conventional compression are presented.
